Design System for a Major Beverage Company.

MALT is a design system created for AB InBev (Anheuser-Busch InBev), a multinational beverage and brewing company, and the largest brewer in the world.

AB InBev faced a number of unique challenges, principle among them was the need to support a wide ecosystem of applications across platforms which, until that time, lacked a unifying graphic language.

MALT (Modern Application Layout Template) is a broad system defined by a simple set of visual rules, componentry, and governance rules for guiding teams to quickly implement their own applications that share a common, centrally-controlled core.

Rules of the Road.

A library is more than a set of rules; to be successful, it needs to be a living document. To that end, a supporting website (itself built from the language of the design system) was created as a dynamic repository, code library, and all of the documentation any designer or developer would need to get started building their own application.

In addition, a complete set of governance rules are detailed, explaining how changes are requested, approvals are provided, etc.
